AK remix at the Icelandic Printmakers Association, Reykjavík, 5. - 20. June 2010
The work is on 100 year old corrugated metal plates. These plates once clad the outside of a country church, they have previously been shown at the Akureyri Art Museum(2009) as part of the exhibition Whimsical Impetus. Maja is working with discarded building material: the corrugated metal plates found in a field. The old protective skin of the Villingaholt church is regenerated in the form of art, evoking the architectural history of Icelandic country churches. The installation and re- installation of the plates is nevertheless site specific every time.
